Well, my friend Sarah has done it again with her unicorn cake decorating birthday party! You might remember Sarah from her amazing spa birthday party she threw last year. I loved EVERYTHING about it!
Sarah is seriously the best with party themes and going ALL out! When her daughter, Emmie, kept asking for a cake decorating party for her 9th birthday, she couldn’t help herself. Sarah has been making cakes since high school [she even had a little business once upon a time] so this is right up her alley.
For this unicorn cake decorating party, Sarah made one main birthday cake and TWELVE mini cakes. TWELVE. TWELLLLLVE. OMG. And they were 5 layers each. And she did the base frosting on every one of them before the girls arrived. Seriously who is this woman?!?!?!?? I was there and couldn’t believe it myself.
She then took the girls through every step of the decorating process from making the horn and ears, using a piping bag and tip, painting the horn and ears with food paint, and placing their final cake on the homemade cake stand ready for each girl [spray-painted sour cream container attached to a dollar store plate…genius!].
Although the moms were there to support, the girls literally did every step themselves. They were so proud and impressed with themselves!
They left with their cake, some extra homemade treats, and a bag of unicorn poop.
