We had never made DIY slime. Another mom I know who also has 4 kiddos couldn’t believe it!
“You have NEVER made slime!?? We make it like every week!”
So, after much kiddo begging, a few weeks ago we decided to try it at home. We bought our Borax and our glue and our food coloring and got to work. It turned out…fine…but it was REALLY gritty. The Borax grit kind of fell off each time they played with it. It wasn’t our best show.
When we were given the opportunity to try out the Craft City Official Make-Your-Own Slime Kit and review it on the blog, we jumped at the chance! Maybe this time our slime would actually work out!
The kids were super excited about the options in the kit. Not only could you make regular old slime, but you could make translucent slime, glow in the dark slime, glitter slime, popping slime, a variety of colored slimes, and even blow slime bubbles.
The kit has everything you need except for water and measuring spoons (if you need to measure anything for the type of slime you elect to make). It even includes a stir stick/firm plastic straw and a bowl for mixing.
We put out all of the supplies and each kiddo decided what they wanted to make.
Kinley chose blue glitter slime.
Kaden chose translucent slime and water gel slime.
Kamryn chose glow in the dark slime.
We let Kaden go first. These are the results of his translucent slime! Totally cool right! It was super sticky, but he loved it! [Next time we might put down some wax paper just so that slippery slime doesn’t slip and slide all over our table.]
The directions also tell you what to do if your slime is too sticky or not slimy enough, just in case you want to change the texture a bit.
Next up was Kamryn and her opaque glow in the dark slime. She loved it even though she looks a little bit serious! She loved how it glowed in the dark, and it REALLY glowed! I wish I could have been able to get a good photo of it because it was awesome!
Finally, Kinley made her blue glitter slime. Since she put in quite a bit of glitter, her slime was a little firmer than the others. She thought it was cool that it made her hands a little bit blue.
Lastly, we went back to Kaden to let him make the water gel slime. This is sort of a blob kind of slime instead of a sticky, gooey kind of slime. It was fun for Kaden to see the difference between them, though I think he liked the super sticky kind the best.
Overall, the Craft City Official Make-Your-Own Slime Kit made WAY better slime that we did on our own and had so many fun options! I think this would be great for a fun afternoon with the kiddos and a super gift for a slime lover!
